Sorting through lots of old and forgotten files and folders and trying to find some gigabytes to delete - I found a few pics from 4-5 years back. A cool one I had forgotten all about was when I had a quick chat with John Knoll at the VES.
I have huge respect for this guy - kinda quiet at first but overflowing with enthusiasm.
Ive always loved the miniatures used for visual effects and this guy has worked through the tail end of that era, into the digital age and even co-created Photoshop....among numerous other achievements and contributions to the VFX industry.
Hes amongst the top of the chain over at the mighty ILM - and i recall a pretty interesting interview REDGIANT did with him where he chats amicably through his career so far, where we get to hear what he thinks about his lens flare plugin being used everywhere....I mean misused.
Its very interesting to learn about the solutions and ideas from such a long and diverse career, involving so many memorable visual effects creations, that in some cases became road maps in the evolution of the industry.
